|A Jersey barrier, or Jersey wall, is a modular concrete or plastic barrier employed to separate lanes of traffic. It is designed to minimize vehicle damage in cases of incidental contact while still preventing vehicle crossovers resulting in a likely head-on collision. These scale model are based on the Jensen Precast 10′ (3m) and 20′ (6m) Barrier Rail. The drawing of the 10′ barrier has five ‘legs’ and spaces equally spaced. I made the 20′ version with 9 feet’/space equal sized.|
|The concrete is not white .. perhaps .. “whitish” .. more of a light linen color. Something like 30 parts white, 1 part each red and blue would give something similar. Once that dried you could use a gray to add the stains. These should be washes so you are just tinting the base color. If you gray is cool gray (blueish undertone) add orange or red to move it to the brownish hue .. it the gray is a warm gray (red undertone) then flip and add some blue.
I used a Apple Barrel craft paint – Off White as a base color and followed with lightly brushing Matt White and followed that with dry brushing with the Off White. I still wasn’t happy with it so I made a wash using Folk Art Steel Gray. Much better. That grey wash may have been better to start with over he a white base coat. There isn’t a right or wrong way for concrete.
